With the 7 main Chakras as our guide, this class will introduce a system for meditation developed by ISHTA Yoga founder, Alan Finger. It draws from and combines ancient Kriya Yoga techniques (Pranayama, Mantra, Mudra and Visualization) to ease the journey and transition into Samadhi.
We'll pull out all the props and begin by finding a comfortable seat. Using blankets, bolsters, the wall or a chair, each of us will build a seat that supports our body for sitting for the duration of the technique sequence and the meditation.
Then we'll do some light asana and stretching. Add in some Pranayama (Nadi Shodhana- alternative nostril breathing) to cultivate pratyahara (sense withdrawal). And then explore each of the 7 main Chakras with the Bija Mantras (seed sounds) and Yantras (shapes) associated with each Chakra.
At this point, we'll be moving into meditation and will sit for up to 18 minutes. To bring the energy back down at the end of meditation, we'll ground with a series of mantras and mudras. And then take a restful Shavasana.
This workshop is open to all, including beginning meditators. Please register to save your spot, $35.
