Staff Yoga Teachers

Christen Allsop
Christen has been teaching yoga since 2002. Her approach to yoga is a blended one that is influenced by understanding yoga as an art and a science. Her primary teacher is Alan Finger, ISHTA Yoga (Integrated Science of Hatha, Tantra & Ayurveda). And she continues to study with Aadil Palkhivala, Julie Gudmestad and many others. Her teaching style is diligent about technique and alignment; inspired by beauty and grace; and warmed by humor and lightheartedness. She is the owner of Cannon Beach Yoga Arts, and Founder and Director of the Cannon Beach Yoga Festival.

Shelley Behrman
Shelley is a native Oregonian celebrating over 30 years of commitment to health and mind/body fitness. Her comprehensive approach to wellness includes her dedication to the practice of yoga and to the mindful care of quality nourishment for the body and soul.  She has over 15 years teaching experience in cardio/resistance/strength training with a focus on breathing, alignment and safety.

Her devotion to the art of Yoga has been steady since 2010 and she’s practiced under Christen Allsop’s guidance since 2013.

Claire Mittelstet
Claire Mittelstet has been involved with yoga since 2005 when she took her first class after years of being intrigued, but intimidated. With a lifetime of various athletic pursuits (horse riding, swimming, soft ball, etc.), the activity of yoga made sense...and brought forward many of the injuries from previous sports. It was working through these injuries that truly opened Claire to yoga, in its many manifestations. It was the nurturing "push from the nest" by mentor and teacher Christen Allsop that led her to obtain her teacher's certification from the White Lotus Foundation, Santa Barbara, CA. in 2011. In the years since, she has taught at least three days a week at Cannon Beach Yoga Arts and has completed certification in Thai Yoga Therapy(TM), also through WLF (2012). She infuses her classes with knowledge gleaned from her education in body work, anatomy, physiology and kinesiology (graduated East West College of the Healing Arts, Portland, OR. 2000), to provide a safe learning environment for students of all abilities.

Nicole Riviere
Originally from the Oregon Coast, Nicole moved to Los Angeles in 1997 to pursue a career as a professional dancer.  She took her first yoga class in 1999, and over the years, she began to feel that yoga was much more than physical and the benefits of focus, softness, flexibility and strength provided tools for life.  In 2007, she went to Rising Lotus Yoga in Sherman Oaks, CA, where she met her teachers, Claire Hartley and Daniel Stewart.  Here the yoga practice became a spiritual practice, a transformative practice and she's been a devout yogi ever since.  She completed her RYT 200 hour certification at Rising Lotus Yoga in 2009 and began teaching.  In 2011, Nicole studied with Maty Ezraty and fell in love with Maty's emphasis on alignment as a means to find focus, healing and strength.  Then in 2012, while stepping away from her 13 year dance career, Nicole found her teacher and mentor, Annie Carpenter.  And completed her second teacher training and a mentorship for her 300/500 Hour Teacher Training with Annie.
